Ronan Reilly Completes Certified Investment Fund Director Programme in Ireland

Ronan Reilly, Managing Director – Ireland, has completed a Certified Investment Fund Director (CIFD) Programme in the jurisdiction. The CIFD Programme specialises in investment fund governance. Launched in 2013, the CIFD designation is now regarded as the qualification of choice for investment fund directors.

The programme is unique as it addresses the distinct challenges of investment fund governance and promotes a risk-based approach to investment fund oversight that may be implemented across jurisdictions. Developed through rigorous academic research and consultation with industry practitioners, the programme blends theory and practice.

The CIFD gives participants a comprehensive understanding of the unique investment fund governance challenges and makes them equipped to:

• Implement an effective risk-based governance framework for investment funds for which they are responsible
• Improve the effectiveness of fund board, fund promoter and service provider relationships from an investment fund governance perspective
• Understand the behaviours required from well-functioning boards and individual directors

With Ireland being home to almost 8,000 funds and EUR 3.2 trillion in assets (76% UCITS and 24% AIFs), along with the recent changes to Irish Limited Partnership rules making it more appealing to set-up an Irish domiciled fund, Ronan will be performing directorships for some of those new funds, particularly AIFs in the PERE area.
