JTC’s Isle of Man Team Preserves Local History at Peel Castle

In keeping with its global ‘Responsible Together’ commitment to give back to their local communities, JTC Group’s Isle of Man office partnered with Manx National Heritage, an organization dedicated to preserving culture and history for the Isle of Man, for the second year in a row.

In late June, Isle of Man Director Lee Mills and his colleagues painted cannons at Peel Castle (Cashtal Phurt Ny h-inshey), which originally was a place of worship before becoming the fort of Magnus Barelegs, 11th century Viking King of Mann.

“This is the second year that JTC have worked alongside Manx National Heritage to support the work they undertake on the Isle of Man and we are delighted to help in any way we can,” said Mills, who was also the Event Ambassador. “Maintaining these historic sites is a considerable task and I hope that the work our team of JTC volunteers undertook will ensure historic cannons are kept in good repair for years to come.”

“It is incredibly important for our organization to have strong corporate partnerships with firms such as JTC Group because it’s not just strictly about monetary donations, but also about volunteers getting hands-on experience while preserving Isle of Man culture and heritage,” said Shaun Murphy, Properties Manager – Land Use and Sustainability, at Manx National Heritage.

“We are proud to work with JTC and are thankful for the time their volunteers made for us at Peel Castle. They did an impressive job helping us restore our historic cannons with the materials they generously donated,” added Murphy.
